Jason Yanity began his introduction into music at age 9 when he entered his elementary school orchestra playing the viola. At age 11 he began studying guitar under instruction of University of Dayton instructor Tony Pepitone.
Through high school he had joined the Northmont High School Jazz Ensemble in which he became the lead guitarist which helped in learning complex chords and working with multiple musicians. As well, he had studied multiple courses in music theory which he excelled in the advanced placement course. By this time he was also studying piano under Dayton's Marc Piqounout.
Following High School, Jason enrolled in the music program at Sinclair Community College and recieved a partial scholarship, as well as testing out of a years worth of music theory, sight singing and dictation. He began studing classical guitar under Kevin Mulhall and recieved his associates degree in Music Education.
Jason then enrolled in Wright State's music program and began studying classical guitar under the instruction of Jim McCutcheon. During this period he was recommended on mulitple occasions for honors recitals.
He continued to study piano, but had also taken on alto saxophone and percussion lessons by this time. In 2007 he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance.
Jason has worked with numerous bands since his early junior high years. During college he performed with the original rock group "M87" which performed at many Dayton area venues as well as multiple festivals. He then joined an acoustic duo known as "Pearl Street" which continues to perform at many local bars and venues. He is also a member of the rock group "The Dead Ringers" which covers a wide variety of genres and has played at several of Dayton's well known establishments.
Jason has been a music instructor in the Dayton area since 1998 and has taught from many reputable locations such as Ace Music, Music-Go-Round, Wasson Music, Hauer Music and St. Peter Elementary School. He currently has students under a variety of instruments including: guitar, bass guitar, piano, ukulele and percussion.
